Obituary

On the evening of March 3, 2024 at 6:45 p.m. God called MONICA LONG THORNTON to transition from this earth to eternity while at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Monica was a mother, grandmother, wife, and sister. She was born on November 6, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland at University of Maryland Hospital.

She was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and later gained employment as a food service worker for the Baltimore City Public School System. Monica was a fun and loving person to be around, always telling jokes and keeping us happy and smiling. Her grandchildren adored her, she was a great joy in their lives and will truly be missed by all. Family get-togethers will never be the same without her high energy and loving personality.

She was preceded in death by her mom Roslia White, dad Nathaniel Long Sr., and younger brother Eric Long. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Robin Thornton; two daughters, Angela Thornton and Shawana Thornton; five grandchildren, Deontraize Baxter, David Lawrence, Camille Lawrence, Xaiver Buchanan, Joshua Thornton; seven siblings, Rosemary Bailey, Nathaniel Long Jr., John White, Dominick Long, Delores Armwood, Shawna Jordan-White, Aaron Long; two loving Aunts Beulah and Barbara; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of in-laws, other relatives, and friends.

She has reached the end of her journey on earth. There is a crown of glory awaiting her on the other side. "We press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." (PHILIPPIANS 3:14)
