Parran
April 27, 1936 – April 8, 2018
On April 27, 1936 the sun rose when Lawrence and Mildred
Hicks welcomed the birth of their daughter Myrtle Beatrice
Hicks. Her sunset took place on April 8, 2018 after a short
illness at the Future Care Lochern Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center.
One of eight children, "Sister" as she was affectionately called
by all of her family and friends was raised in Calvert County,
Maryland where she was educated through the Calvert County
Public School System.
Sister later married James Franklin Parran and was blessed
'with nine children. Sister always enjoyed being with her family
and friends and having a good time.
Sister worked in Domestic Services in Hyattsville, MD. She
relocated to Brooklyn New York where she was employed
at Sunshine Laundry for several years. She later relocated
to Baltimore, MD and worked at the Value Village Thrift Store.
Those whom preceded her in death include: her parents
Lawrence and Mildred Hicks; siblings Christine Smith,
William Allen Hicks and Mary Catherine Stapleton.
Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory, Her nine children:
Helen Parran, Gail Jackson(Myron), Joyce Parran, Carolyn
Parran-Parker, Clarice Thomas (Van), Maurice Parran
(Desharn), Willie Parran, David Parran and James Parran;
four siblings;Lawrence Hicks Jr., Evelyn Monroe, Elmer Hicks,
and Marguerite Harrod; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen
great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
