IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Naomi L.
Stuart
September 8, 1944 – May 6, 2018
Naomi Loy Carter Stuart triumphantly departed this life the morning of May 6, 2018.
Loy was born in Baltimore, MD on September 8, 1944 to the late Ruth N. Amisial
and Samuel Carter.
As a child, letters and words intrigued Loy. This intrigue lead to her beginning to
read at the age of 3, becoming an avid reader of any and all types of literature .... a
story she loved to share. She spent her formative years residing with her grand-
mother, mother and siblings.
Loy was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools, graduating from the historical
Carver Vocational Technical High School and later attending Baltimore City Commu-
nity College, to study Medicine.
Loy cared deeply about the education of her children, which compelled her to be
deeply involved in the NPTA. She attended numerous school board meetings and
sat on many committees, all to enrich the overall well-being for students, as well as
for the community in which they resided. Throughout her life, her vast knowledge,
artistic talents, oratorical and linguistic prowess was a source of pleasure and admi-
ration to all who knew her.
Loy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and
friend. She had a penchant for collecting memorabilia, spending countless hours
researching the origin and meaning of the items she lovingly amassed over time.
She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia (Peggy) Mobley; brother Victor
Carter and granddaughter Vanessa Stuart.
Loy leaves to mourn her passing, her beloved husband, Henry V. Stuart; two daugh-
ters Valerie and Loy; three sons, Vaughn, Jason and Troy; one sister Constance
Cocky; one brother Vance Carter; one Honorary sister Barbara Brown; two daugh-
ters-in-Iaw Tonika and Iris; 3 grandchildren Danielle, Ariel, Jalen; 2 great grandchil-
dren Kai and Mekhi, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and
friends.
