Ned J. King, son of the late John A. Wingate and Lillian

King-Alston was born on November 1, 1949 in Lenoir

County, NC. He departed this life on February 17, 2019

after a lengthy illness. He received his education at Adkin

High School in Kingston, Virginia.

He was employed for many years at C&P Telephone

Company and also volunteered at the Salvation Army,

Baltimore, MD.

On September 14, 1978, Ned united in holy matrimony to

Phyllis. They have been married for over 40 years. Ned

had a good heart and touched many lives. He will truly be

missed by all of us.

He leaves to cherish, a devoted wife Phyllis King; 3 sons:

Andre King who preceded him in death, Anthony Swann

and Kelvin Swann all from Baltimore, MD; Poga Wingate

stepmother who preceded him in death; 8 brothers: Darnell

Wingate (Bonita) from Kingston, NC; Samuel King who

preceded him in death (Peggy) from Newport News, VA;

Anthony King from Washington, DC; Larry Nowell

(Belinda) from Fayetteville, NC; Clifford Nowell (Phyllis)

from Newport News, VA; Alexander Nowell (Ethel) from

Gwynn Oak, MD; Garnett Nowell from Broken Arrow,

OK and Myron Alston (Blanch) from Upper Marlboro,

MD; 4 sisters: Tnetter Wingate, Pamela Wingate, Debra

Wingate-Lewis (Milton) all from Kingston, NC and Jackie

Wingate from Greensboro, NC; 7 grandchildren; 5 sister

in-laws, 5 brother in-laws, and a host of other relatives and

friends.
