IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nelson R.
Nutt, Sr.
June 13, 1941 – December 30, 2016
Born on June 13, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Neal and Lucinda
Nutt and peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, December 28, 2016,
surrounded by family. He was the youngest of thirteen siblings.
He received his education in Baltimore City Public Schools. Nelson was
employed for several years as a custodian at Franklin Square Hospital. He
also served the people of Baltimore for over twenty years at Lexington
Market Cross Street Market and Larkins Seafood. He worked at numerous
seafood stalls. He was a professional in shucking oysters.
In 1960, Nelson married Gladys Miller and from that union 2 children were
conceived, Nelson and Jacqueline Nutt.
"Big Nutt" as he was known was the "Patriarch" of both sides of his family.
He was the "favorite uncle" who they called Uncle Fish or Fishie Woo Woo.
He was dedicated to many. One of his favorite past-times was watching
westerns. He was a jokester and a die-hard Ravens fan. He had a special gift
of making everyone feel special. He affectionately referred to the ladies as,
"My Baby" and to the fellas, "My Boy". He also enjoyed spending time with
his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Nelson accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1994 at Mt. Hatten
Baptist Church where he served as an usher and on the security ministry for
five years. He later became a member of Bethany Baptist Church where he
also served as an usher until his untimely illness. As his heath began to fail,
Nelson became a resident of Keswick Multi-Care Center in 2013. He was the
life of the floor, touched by all who cared for him.
Nelson leaves a legacy of love to cherish his life: two children, Nelson
(Angela) and Jacqueline Nutt; six grandchildren: Aaron (Na'imah) Nutt, the
memory of Jonathan Byrd who preceded him in death, Rhonda & Karisha
Nutt, Dione Hill, Zakee (Jamel) Hill, and twenty four great-grandchildren. He
also leaves to cherish his memory, step-children; Cherelle Jackson,
Marquetta Richardson, Zakiayah (Neviah) Martin, Latia (Tyrone) Boone, Jr.,
Steven (Antoine) White and Tyreekia Archie. A host of dedicated nieces and
nephews who loved him dearly, family and friends.
