Nelson Finney, son of the late Margie Thornton and Elmer Finney, Sr. was born on January 31, 1933. On Thursday, January 30, 2014, Nelson quietly fell asleep after a brief illness at Forest Haven Nursing Home. Nelson received his education III the Baltimore City Public School System. Nelson met and married Carrie Moore at a young age. He was the beloved father of five children, Marty Garrison (of Georgia) Nelson, Jr. (proceeded him in death) Diane Coggins (of Georgia) Reginald Finney and Nelson Finney, III of Baltimore, Maryland. Nelson was a hardworking man and was employed during his life time at Sparrows Point, the Cheverolet Plant, as a Chauffeur and at a Doctor's Office. Nelson has many skills and could fix just about anything. His skills ranged from home repairs to car repairs. Among the vast skills he acquired, his preference was woodwork. His ability to carve, paint, and polish wood was amazing. He took pride in producing objects of beauty and quality. Never charging a fee for his gifts of beauty he produced. Among his woodwork gems are his renditions of a cover wagon, a walking cane, and a chest board. Nelson was also a fantastic cook with his special being the family favorite "Nelson Burgers". He was also a comedian in his own way. There was never a dull moment when he was around, even in his last days he was able to make you smile. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children; Marty, Diane (Milton), Reginald and Nelson, III, seven grandchildren; Hillary, Nelson (Bird), Chanel, Michael, Kenyatta, Renada and Anthony (Ant), five great grandchildren; and three sisters; Margie Blackwell, Mary Stukes (Reginald) and Barbara Parker (Thomas) and a host of nieces, nephews and many loving relatives and friends.
