Noble Johnson also known as "Big Noble" or ''Noble J" tomany, was born on September 26, 1937, in Gainesville, Florida. He transitioned to paradise on March 15, 2020. He was the sonof the late, Henry and Garvinia Johnson.
As a young boy, Noble went to live with his grandfather inTampa, Florida; after his mother went home to glory. Noblereceived his education from theHillsborough County PublicSchool System. In1965, Noble came North with his bestfriend, Lonnie Campbell, making Baltimore, Maryland his newhome. As a young man, Noble worked various jobs like Bethlehem Steel and at the Port as a Longshoreman. Eventually,Noble landed a job as a Computer Operator at W. R. Grace(Davidson Chemicals), where he completed 35 years of service.Noble concluded his career there and began his well-deservedretirement.
Noble was a very quiet man, who was friendly, well-liked,generous and meticulous. He was introduced to Christ at ayoung age, and as he matured, Noble continued to embrace andstrengthen his personal relationship with Christ. Because Nobletrusted and loved the Lord, he communicated to his daughter,Noelle, "I have lived enough meaningful years on Earth that Iwill be ready when God calls me home."If you knew anything about "Noble J", you knew he was verycharming, he was a risk-taker, and a handsome man. Nobleloved to eat a big countrybreakfast. He also enjoyed foods likeoxtails and crabs with beer. You can say the country boy in himnever left, he just learned to adapt to the ways of true Baltimorean's. People sometimes referred to him as a Geechie becauseof his thick Florida accent. As kids, we often found humor inthe way Big Noble pronounced the word, "shrimp". He wouldsay, "shwimp", and stutter whentrying to reprimand us.
Noble J., was a true Man's Man. He was a dedicated RavensFan, who enjoyed socializing at the Sedan Club on MyrtleAvenue. While driving part-time, he met his devoted wife, JoyceS. Johnson in1997. Noble laid on his charm when drivingJoyce to her destination, and the rest became history. Noble andJoyce enjoyed traveling to places like the Bahamas, Delawareand Atlantic City. Noble loved the excitement of the casinos, where he could play cards, and the racetrack, where he could beton the horses.
In his spare time, he would visit the Waxter Center for ComputerTraining Courses, and the Liberty Heights Community Center toplay pool and checkers. He especially loved to listen to soul andrhythm & blues music. He was a well-rounded, lively man, whowill be greatly missed. He leaves to cherish his precious memory a loving wife, JoyceS. Johnson; his affectionate children,Noelle G. Johnson; Precious R. Cherry; Shantel Evans; Stacey Bennett; and two (2)additional sons named Noble Johnson (who resides in Florida);grandchildren, Brooke J.
