Obituary

Norman Keith Whittington, 64, affectionately known as "Windy" to
family and friends, son of Mary Beatrice Whittington and the late John
Henry Whittington was born on May 19, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. He
departed this life on Tuesday, December 22,2015 at Genesis Health Care,
Patapsco Valley Center, Randallstown, MD.

Norman received his high school education at Edmondson High School,
where he excelled in the school band, wrestling, and as the Editor of the
school newspaper. He later received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in English
at Coppin State College where he was the Editor of the college
newspaper.

Norman served in the United States Army in the 1970's. During his time
there, Norman received the National Defense Service Medal.
After his military service, Norman gained employment as an Analyst with
the State and Federal governments. He also spent time working for the
Afro-American Newspaper.

Norman was a lover of music and a talented musician. He played several
brass instruments, including the trumpet, bugle, and flugelhorn. Norman
exhibited his talents playing for several local bands including the band,
Black Micah (later known as Myca) where he was affectionately called
"Whitt".

His other interests included time with family and friends, poetry, playing
pool and chess. Norman touched the lives of many people with his smile,
generosity, and trademark sense of humor. Until his illness, he devoted
much of his time and energy to helping others less fortunate and was
always "willing to give the shirt off his back" to help a family member or a
friend in need.

Norman was preceded in death, by his older brother, John Hezekiak
Whittington, but leaves loving memories to be cherished by his devoted
mother, Mary; one son, Ian; one daughter, Kara; two brothers, Aaron and
Alan; one half brother, Henry, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and
countless friends whom were all blessed to know him. Norman made many
friends wherever he went and was sincerely loved by everyone. He will
truly be missed. Memorial Service Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home Wednesday, December 30, 2015 05:30 PM Email Details 2140 N. Fulton Ave
