Deacon Novill V. Snowden, fondly known as "Hikie ", son of the late Elsie Sf. and Eliza Herrod Snowden was born on August 4, 1930, in Severn, Maryland. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Our Lord and Savior summoned an angel to quietly escort Hikie to his heavenly home.

He received his education in the Anne Arundel Public School system. He left Severn at an early age and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland.

He retired from John Hopkins University after 39 years of dedicated service.

Hikie married the former Naomi Morrison on November 18, 1989. They shared over 60 years of courtship and marriage.

He accepted Christ at an early age. Hikie rededicated his life to Christ and joined the Second Antioch Baptist Church on his youngest son's 50th Birthday, May 17,2004. He was ordained as an honorary deacon on Sunday, May 3, 2015.

While many "Colored Him Father" he was also fondly known by several other names to his family, i.e., Hikie, Whitey, Pop, Dad-ah, Hike, Daddy-O, Daddy, Grand-Hikie, Grandfather and Pop-Pop. He enjoyed watching sports, game shows and all of the "Judges". He found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and friends, especially during family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by sister, Bernice Grace, brothers Elsie Salisbury "Jimmy" Snowden and Rayjers "Ray" Snowden.
