Lucas
April 3, 1943 – January 12, 2019
On Saturday, April 3rd, 1943, Odell Lucas came into the world.
It was a glorious spring day, and like the promise of Life and
Love that spring brings, so did our beloved. Odell Lucas was
born to Martha Wiggins, and Melvin Lucas, in Wilson (Ramcat)
North Carolina. He had a special bond, with his sister, Mary Ann
and brother, Wardell.
He had many siblings that he loved dearly. He has been called
home to join, J.D., Douglas, Wardell, Dorothy and Louise Lucas.
His former wife Vicky. As well as his nephew, Michael Lucas,
whom he loved as though he was his own son.
Odell is also joining his daughter Vanesha LaKelia Lucas, whom
he looked at a picture of every single day.
Odell spent time in Pennsylvania, and New York, before settling
in Baltimore, Maryland. Here he formed friendships, and built a
family that will forever remember him. He worked construction
for many years, eventually earning his way to be named
General Construction Foreman of the Baltimore City Housing
Authority, where he worked for 25 years. He retired
.- when he was 75 years old.
Odell Lucas loved his children with a passion. Everything he
did was to make sure that all of children were loved and taken
care of, and they will miss him always. Cheko, Donna, Theresa,
Vanesha, Lisa, and Odell Jr.
Odell is survived by his wife, with whom he spent 35 years,
Romania Lucas, who stood with him until the very end. His
surviving siblings, Andrew, Marvin, J.C., Melvin Jr., Tony,
Patricia, Mary Ann, Tammy, Lisa, Theresa and Cassie. His
surviving former wife Barbara. As well as 18 Grandchildren,
and 5 Great Grandchildren, all of whom he loved immensely.
Odell was Fierce, Loyal, Strong, Courageous, Honest, Stubborn,
and most importantly, he loved his family dearly. He was called
home, on January 12,2019 at 12:15 p.m. We will never forget him.
