IN LOVING MEMORY OF
O'Dell S.
Smoot, Sr.
September 17, 1950 – March 16, 2018
O'Dell Sylvester Smoot,
son of the late James and Bertha Smoot,
was born on September 17, 1950. He departed this life on
March 16,2018 after a lengthy illness.
O'Dell was born, raised and educated in Baltimore, Maryland.
He attended Forest Park High School. He also attended college
briefly but left to embark on employment with Amtrak. He left
Amtrak in 1993 and pursued his goal of obtaining his real estate
license to help families reach their dream of home ownership.
O'Dell was well versed and very knowledgeable in so many other
aspects of life due to his passion for reading books, newspapers,
magazines and just talking and learning from others. He could hold
a conversation with the best of the best.
In addition, O'Dell was a jack of all trades. He dabbled in stocks,
bonds and other finances. He kept up with the latest investments
and was always recommending how a person could invest their money.
He was a very good cook and could guide you over the phone on the
preparation of a delicious meal. He could bring a broken down car back
to life. He could fix anything in the house and had no problem telling
the licensed contractor how to do his job. Yes. He will truly be missed.
O'Dell was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers - James
"Poochie" Smoot, James "Stinky" Smoot, and Raymond "Clean" Smoot.
O'Dell leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Tiffany Johnson
of Lorton, VA, Trista Smoot of Tampa, FL and Nicole Clifford of
Baltimore, MD.; two sons, Tyrone Smoot of Baltimore, MD and,
O'Dell Smoot Jr. of Upper Marlboro, MD.; eight grand-daughters,
Kiarra, Shaniya, Jasmine, Jordan, Damiya, Khenzi and his two
sidekicks - Jah'ya and Kaylin; two great-grand-daughters, Azia
and Azzure; and one great-grandson, Zykell.
He also leaves to cherish his memory, a valued friend, Melody
Ricks-Smoot of Baltimore, MD; two sisters - Vernice Smoot of
Orlando, Florida and Diana Smoot of Baltimore, MD, nieces and
nephews: Renee Taylor, Raynell Smoot, Delvonna Smoot,
