Obituary

OLIVER WENDELL RANDALL departed this life on Monday, April 7, 2014 at the Joseph Ritchey Hospice. Born on April 3, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland to parents Della and Franklin Randall, Sr., Oliver had three siblings from this union: Frank, John and Martha Randall Foster (deceased). Other siblings are Justine Blackston, along with Clarence (deceased) and Joseph Blackston (deceased). Oliver was married to Betty Lou Shaw in 1959 and from this union two children were born: Robin and Jodye. They were married for twelve years and later divorced. Oliver, who served honorably in the United States Marine Corps appreciated the Muslim religion and enjoyed listening to Minister Farrakhan. He received an A.A. degree from the Maryland Institute of Art. After many years of devoted service, Oliver retired from the Maryland Corrections Department. His true passion was managing his successful real estate business. Many who knew him appreciated his constant quest for knowledge and his appreciation for the Arts. Oliver, who loved running, participated in the Boston Marathon twice. He loved country music, square dancing, and Afro-centric artwork. His on-going passion for architecture and real estate took him all over Maryland, exploring historical buildings and structures. Oliver, a unique and independent soul, enjoyed a hearty laugh and certainly appreciated "spirited discussions" with family and friends. In his own words: "Every place I put my foot is a happening/" "Randall", as he was affectionately called, had a special charm and will be missed by family and friends, along with his beloved Pimlico community. Oliver leaves to mourn: two daughters, Robin and [odye; one grandson, Jordan Johnson; two brothers, Frank and John Randall; one sister, Justine Blackston; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
