Hesubsequently enrolledinDundalkCommunityCollege, wherehis outgoingpersonality, exceptional athleticskillsand leadership qualities garneredhim the position of the basketball team'sCaptain. In 1978, Junnieenlistedin theUnited StatesMarineCorpwhereherose to the rank of Lance Corporal.Among his manyaccolades,heearned theBadgeof Rifle Expert,and the Metal forGood Conduct.While stationedinOkinawa, Japan, Junnie's athleticprowessdisplayed itselfonthe trackfield.Hehadareputationfordominating every event, thusmaking him bisSergeant'stoppicktocompete! He was honorably dischargedin 1982. Inthat same year, Junnie married hislove,TanyaAshe.
