Oliver NathanielTaylorSr., affectionatelyknownas"Junnie"was borntothe lateCoraElizabethTaylorand OliverNathanielHocutt onJuly 4,1957. He wascalledhometo GloryonJune5,2020.
Junnie received hisfonnal educationin theBaltimore CityPublic School System. During his senior year atSouthern HighSchool,his men's basketballteamwon theCitywide Championship, BNBL and the ProjectsSurvivalChampionshipin 1976. Hesubsequently enrolledinDundalkCommunityCollege, wherehis outgoingpersonality, exceptional athleticskillsand leadership qualities garneredhim the position of the basketball team'sCaptain. In 1978, Junnieenlistedin theUnited StatesMarineCorpwhereherose to the rank of Lance Corporal.Among his manyaccolades,heearned theBadgeof Rifle Expert,and the Metal forGood Conduct.While stationedinOkinawa, Japan, Junnie's athleticprowessdisplayed itselfonthe trackfield.Hehadareputationfordominating every event, thusmaking him bisSergeant'stoppicktocompete! He was honorably dischargedin 1982. Inthat same year, Junnie married hislove,TanyaAshe.
To knowJunniewas tolovehim! Hisdynamic personalityand love forpeople left an impactoneveryone he interactedwith,which iswhyhetook the jobasa Correctional Officer, at The Dismiss House. Junnie's loveforlife,family,andfriends proved tobehis soulkeepei:. He loved tohelp mentor themenat the SalvationArmy.
It was therethathebecame a betterhim.His dedicationanddiligent work ethic also allowed him to perfonn as aManager atStandardAutoParts store. Junniefound Jesus andsinginginchoirs. He joined the gospel group,SonsofHarmony, where they wereintalks ofgetting a recordingdeal.Junniehada multitude of talents andhe loved makingpeoplelaugh.Hewasaveryfamily-orientedman.Ifheloved you,you knew it and feltit!Some ofhis favorite past times included watchingOld Western & Karatemovies; singing and dancing. Whenever the musiccame on,Junnie wouldgrab hissister Beverly'shand, andcut arug! He lovedand admired his brother Alfredso much hetried to patternhis lifelikehis. His love forBasketballwas sostrong that when his team playing days were long behind him. he foundjoyinpassingonhis skillset bycoaching his son's basketball teams. He also lent histalents to his Cherry Hill communitybycoachingthe VarsityBasketball team at Southside Academy High School.
Proceedinghim indeathare his sons Donte,Andre,and Dwight Sr.Also his sonin lawCalvin Baker. He leaves to cherish hismemorysix children, Oliver Nathaniel Taylor Jr. (Nicole), Toni "Jawanie" Taylor-Baker, Ashley Chenese Taylor, Quran Nathaniel Taylor, Corey Elijah Taylor and Kenyon Nathaniel Taylor; thirteen grandchildren, London X. Taylor, Aniya Z. Whiting, Dayon K. Hanks, Laura M. Taylor, Amiyah A. Taylor, Quran Taylor Jr., Gabrielle C. Tucker; one great-granddaughter, Kaliyah A. Johnson; his siblings, Alfred Malone (Deanna) and Beverly Taylor; two aunts, Ellen Little (Cornell) and Laverne Taylor; one uncle, Jerome Taylor (Yvonne); three devoted friends, Charles Land, Cornell "Boo" Parker, and Stevie Pringle; and a host of other loving relatives, friends and Veterans Affairs comrades.
