Olivia Bessie Collins Jones was the youngest of six children born to the late William Henry and Bessie Collins. Olivia was born on July 20, 1911 in the Mount Winan's area, Maryland. She departed this life on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Genesis Health care, Caton Manor center. Olivia was married to the late George Jones. Olivia was educated by the Baltimore City Public School System. She was employed as a domestic as well as a care provider for many years. Olivia was a member of the John Wesley United Methodist Church for over sixty years. she served on a variety of committees and organizations within the church. She was also a member of the Mt. Winans Westport Senior Club. "Ollie," as she was affectionately called, loved to travel. She frequently traveled with the Senior club. She especially enjoyed Dinner Theater's and shopping excursions. She also loved to eat. Some of her favorite foods were; seafood, pig tails, and pig's feet.... and she forgot the homemade sweet potato pie! She looked forward to family gatherings and was an integral member of hr family's lives. Ollie especially enjoyed spending time with the children. She laughed uncontrollably when small cousin Kani, who couldn't pronounce her name, call her "Cousin Cannolli". she was always in good spirits, despite her physical aliments. Ollie celebrated life everyday. She had a kind spirit and was always there to lend a "helping hand." she freely gave of herself, and "went the extra mile." She left an imprint on all whose lives she touched. Ollie would say,"god kept her on earth this long because of her Faith. She added, He will do the same for you." She read her Bible every night. Her favorite passage was Psalm 23. when her eyes would tire, family would read to her. She will certainly walk with the angels and receive god's reward at the Gates of Heaven. Ollie leaves behind; her devoted cousin, Vlasta McCoy; and her husband Danny McCoy; "adopted" grandchildren and great=grandchildren; special friend, Jean Henry; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Her loyal niece, Margaret Collins Brown, preceded her in death.
