Obituary

Otis Henry Jr. was the first child of Otis and Lois Henry Sr, born July11, 1987in Baltimore, Maryland. He leaves a legacyofunwavering devotion to his church, family and community. Otis was a man who embodied outstanding leadership, family values, loyalty and corpmitment to his peers, a genuine love of life, quest forknowledge and enthusiasm for the Lord.



Otis received his early education at Harvard Johnson Junior High School followed by his high school years atCarver Technical High School in Baltimore City. Uponcompletionof High School at the young tender aOtis pursued a path which included the loveof his country. Otis sacrificed his time and family to Honorablyserve his country in the United States Marine Corps. from May1957to March1961,Otis completed twotours as a Marine. He was a proud SergeantE-5whiletraining as an Engineer Stock Foreman and a RadioRelay Technician. After traveling the world fighting for his country, Otis was Honorably Discharged from theUnited States Marine Corps in1961;receiving his secondAwardof Good Conduct from the United StatesArmed Forces. Otis went on to work for the Ffderal Government in Fort Meade, Maryland as aCommunication Specialist from1965to1992.At theage of52,Otis decided to devote his time to his familywhen he retired with 27years of Civil Service.



Not ready to settle in a rocker he decided to rededicate hislifeto the Lord which included going back to school with a focus on Christian Education. In March2011Otis became an Ordained Minister. From then until his last day his love for knowledge and relationship with the Lord touched the livesofso many. Not onlywas he the beloved Patriarch of his family, Otis was a respected and admired Minister, Sunday School teacher,and counselor. Even with his ailments Otis cringedat the thought of not being able to spread God's Word to anyone who would listen. He continued to teach the Word of God to membersof the community atEmmanuel Temple Church.



Otis leaves to cherish his memory: a beloved wife of 60years Carrie Maderline the girl next door, five children.Sheila Tewanda, Otis Henry, III, Cynthia Juanita who proceeded him in heaven, Carla Yvonne (Parks) and Yohance Anum. Otis has seven grand-children, Gary Louis, Stephanie Shanell and Juston Nichols, Travis Brandon, Jasmyn Auriel, Stephen Anthony, Jamaal Aaron and Jadea; eleven grandchildren Tahera, Tashay,Trayvon, Dante, Peyton, Kayden, Khalil, Anthony, Sye'Anna "Noonie", Makayla, and Jeremiah. Otis was blessed to meet and greet four great-great grandchildren, Royal, CJ, Nova and Sincere. Otis leaves his one andonly sister as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Otis was preceded in heaven by his parents and his younger brother, Ivan.
