Pansy Penny Butler, daughter of the late Mary Frances Graves and William Butler was born on September 17, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed her life on September 26, 2013. Pansy received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She had various jobs in house keeping, until she took custody of her three year old grandson, Daqwan Ward in 1997. Pansy was married to Lonnie Robinson for five years. Then divorce and married Roger Bess. Pansy loved to cook and clean. She would feed the neighborhood. If you didn't have anywhere to stay, she would take you in. Pansy was full of laughter, she would keep a smile on your face. She was the life of the party. She was preceded in death by two children, Cara and Paula Ward and her two brothers, Donald Barnes and Perry Barnes. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Roger Bess; one son, Elvis Ward; three sisters, Rita Butler, Willene Watts and Nadine Butler; one brother, Emmanuel Barnes; four grandchildren, Darrian Williams, Daqwan Ward, Dayvon Ward and Byron Ward; her two best friends, Jack and Margaret Maple and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other family and friends.
