Patricia Louise Francis, affectionately known as "Patty" was born June 24, 1952 to the late Birdice Marie Francis and Wilson Francis Jr. in Baltimore, Maryland. At a young ago Patty accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. After becoming a member of Ml. Ararat Baptist Church, she fulfilled her commitment with her baptism, singing in the choir and involvement in other church ministries. Pally truly loved the lord.
Patty would often reflect on her younger years. She would often say that some of the best years wore from her childhood home on Burleigh Avenue. She was known for gracing her family with laughter, love and keeping her family on their toes. At a young age, Pally was eager to work. Her first job was working al a gas station on Gwynns Falls Parkway. The money she earned gave her a sense of freedom to buy clothes and food from Escalator Inn at Mondawmin Mall.
Patty received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Forest Park High School In 1970. In 1972, she gave birth to her pride and joy, David Andre Johnson. While caring for her one and only son, she decided lo further her education. She received her AA degree in Mass Communication at Baltimore City Community College and her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology at Towson State University. After graduating, she began lo work as a Classification Specialist at Baltimore City Jail. During her 10 years of employment, she received many awards and accolades. Patty moved on lo a better opportunity obtaining a position as a 411 Operator at Verizon, retiring after 20 plus years. Retirement did not sit well with her, so she returned to the workforce as an Admission Coordinator al Mercy Hospital. Patty's last position was at Maryland Higher Education Commission as an Administrative Officer. Although she loved her MHEC family, she retired after 12 years duo to her illness.
Patty was a compassionate and empathetic person who established long lasting friendships. She made everyone whom she encountered feel special and heard. Patty enjoyed engaging with others in conversation on the light rail and public places. She found the good in everyone she met, no matter where they were in their lives. Patty would
always say, "Everyone has a purpose".
Patty had a love for many things. She loved fresh flowers, and how they brightened up her home. She loved playing keno and her favorite lottery numbers. Having a big love for sports, Patty enjoyed supporting her favorite teams, the Ravens and the Orioles. She loved lo dress in her team gear and enjoyed watching with her family and friends. She was always the life of the party.
Patty was preceded in death by her son, David Andre Johnson, and brothers, Clarence Smith and Daniel Smith Sr.
Patty Loaves to cherish her loving memory: her devoted life partner, Bolford Elsey; grandsons, Lamar Johnson and David Andre Johnson Jr.; Great-Grandchildren, Logan Johnson, Zori Johnson, Braelyn Johnson and Jefe Johnson; bonus granddaughter, Jade Turner; sisters, Linda Francis and Isabel Francis; nephews, Maurice Hardrick Jr., Daniel Smith Jr and Andre Smith; daughter-in-law, Crystal King; godson, Wayne Harris Jr.; lifelong best friend, Ronald "Butch" Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends.
