Obituary

Patricia Ann Cooper Riley was born in Baltimore, MD on
November 5, 1940 to the late Willie Joseph and Eillen Cooper.
Her mother died when she was young and she and her sister,
Eillen were raised by their paternal grandmother and grandfather
(Minnie Lee and Alexander Cooper).

Patricia was lovingly called "Pat" by all who knew her. Pat attended
Baltimore City Public Schools. She graduated from Frederick Douglass
High School in 195B. She soon married the apple of her eye and the
love of her life, Joseph Riley. Through this union they were blessed
with five children. Patricia Annette, Joanne Fern, April Michelle Rene,
Joseph Christian and Dionne Leslie.

Patricia loved caring for people and chose to become a nurse. She
graduated from the University of MD School of Nursing as a Licensed
Practical Nurse. Upon completing school, she worked at University
Hospital. She was later employed at Sinai Hospital, working in the
Pediatric Unit. Patricia was diligent in her duties and often spoke
about assisting the new interns during their residency. Many of those
interns, who have their own practices today, fondly remember her.

Patricia left Sinai and began to work as a private duty nurse in the
late So's and she was always in high demand. Many of the families
that requested her employment saw her as a member of their family,
instead of an employed nurse. Even after retiring, Pat continued to
work for the Clairmount School. She worked as a one on one nurse.
She dedicated herself to assisting students whom without her care
would not be able to attend school.

Amongst her hobbies, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking her
family's favorite pound cake, sewing, embroidery, gardening, good
conversations and family gatherings. She especially enjoyed spending
time with her canine companion Bella.

Patricia accepted Christ at an early age during her grandmother's
pastorate at St, Matthews Pentecostal Church. She always strived to
please to God. Patricia later moved her membership to Mt, Calvary Holy
Temple, Inc., under the pastorate of Rev Dr. Amanda Williams & Bishop
Harold Ivy Williams. In 19B3 she joined Bethel AME Church, under the
pastoral leadership of Rev. John R. Bryant. She faithfully served as
a member of the Missionary Society, and the Stewardess Board.
Under the pastorate of Pastor Frank M. Reid III, she was elevated
to Stewardess Emeritus.

Patricia was called to eternal rest by our heavenly Father on
Thursday, June 21, 20IB. She leaves to cherish her memory five
children: Rev. Patricia (Rev. Johnny), Joanne (Calvin III),
Rev. Joseph, April (Lonnie), and Dionne. Nine grandchildren,
five great grandchildren, one sister-in law, Nellie Richards of
Milton, Florida. Two aunts - Margaret "Frances" (Delmar) of
Washington, DiC. and Mary Catherine Hawthorne of
Baltimore, Md. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
neighbors and friends.

Well done thou good and faithful servant ..
