Paul Everette Bruce, affectionately called "Rickey" was born March 28, 1945 to the late Lillian Bruce Harden and Benjamin Washington. He departed this life suddenly on June 5, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Rickey graduated from Douglass High School in 1963. While in high school, he developed his love for music, electronics and carpentry. He was a natural born artist, and his ability to visually perceive and then convey to canvas, was a gift that was second to none. Rickey was a Christian. As a child he was an active member of The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Walbrook Junction. Rickey married Marie Bradley February 28, 1969, and together they raised Terrence Bradley. Rickey had many talents and passions. He had a fascination for electronics. As a lay person, Rickey had a gift to read and understand electrical diagrams. For many years, Rickey worked for his uncles's construction company, where he used his ability of understanding blue prints to design, build and renovate houses throughout the city. Rickey also had a passion for music. He was a self taught professional drummer. This talent enabled him to tour with the singing group "The Intruders". Rickey was also the signature percussionist on the hit song, "A Love That's Real". Rickey was a very charismatic person and people loved to be around him. He had a great sense of humor. He loved to tell jokes and was the life of the party. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Marie Bruce; step-son, Terrence Bradley; two brothers, Charles Harden and Benjamin Washington; one sister, Belva Scott; two uncles, David Bruce and Donald Bruce; three aunts, Jeanette Bruce, Pauline Bruce and Rose Bruce; two special friends, Jerry and Fred and a host of other relatives and friends.
