IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul
Gillis
November 8, 1954 – January 11, 2026
Paul Eddie Gillis , age 71, passed away on January ll, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. He lived a life shaped by resilience and an unwavering devotion to those he loved most.
Paul was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 8, 1954, to Fred and Geneva (Thomas) Gillis. He was the beloved son of his parents and was preceded in death by his brothers William Benson, Fredrick Preston, Joseph Daniel, and his sister Grace Louise. Despite not completing traditional high school, Paul learned through life experiences. As a young man, he valued hard work and perseverance, starting at his first job at Goodwill. This laid the foundation for a successful career at Ball Corporation in Baltimore, MD, where he worked with his brother Joseph. Before retiring, he spent 13 years at C.B. Flooring in Columbia, MD.
Paul faced tough challenges that marked a difficult period in his lite. But those experiences didn't define him. What defined Paul was his determination to keep moving forward, his ability to handle adversity, and his strong commitment to his family. He learned lessons from his struggles, using them to grow and support those he loved.
Above all, Paul was a family man. Affectionately known as Uncle Paulie, he loved sharing his wisdom and giving good advice. Uncle Paulie showed his care not just with words but through actions. He showed up when it mattered and stood by his loved ones through thick and thin. He found happiness in family gatherings, walking his dog, checking in on others, and sharing simple moments of laughter.
Paul is survived by his loving partner, Lousie Minor. He also leaves behind his sister, Genevieve McLeod; sisters-in-law, Brenda Gillis and Deborah Gillis; nephews, Rodney Gillis and Herman Anderson; nieces, Lynette Gillis, Tranita Anderson, Ebony Mack, Amy Anderson, and Princess McLeod; and many other relatives and friends.
