Obituary

It was on December 16, 1951, that Paula Ann Scott DeGraffinried
brought a little bit of heaven to Paul Braswell Sr. and Magruder Dorothy
Scott. She was born in Baltimore City where she lived her entire life and
attended public schools, graduating from Carver Vocational Technical
High School. She studied at Baltimore City Community College and
enhanced her professional work with on-the-job training.

In terms of vocation, she lent her caring heart to the nursing field; for
many years at Deaton Medical Center and Nursing Home in downtown
Baltimore and later in private duty. She inherited her mother's need to
take care of everyone; they worked side by side for quite a few years at
Deaton. She was always looking out for others, trying to protect them
even from her own bad news and suffering. She often acted as if she
were the eldest rather than the middle sister.

But most of all she found joy in being a mother to Yolanda and Spencer,
and a second mother to Corey; a grandmother to Shanell and Nicole and
tremendously so, in being a great grandmother to Keigan and Nova. She
always had a little more love to give and when she couldn't do anything
else, she posted pictures of Nova on Facebook to show her pride. It was
the little ones who gave her the extra boost of energy she needed on the
tough days. She would take one glance of Nova and Keigan and say, "I
love my boy Keigs and Miss Nova. She's such a mean girl," she'd tease.
And then she would laugh, kiss and hug them as much and as often as
she possibly could. There was never any doubt that they gave her that
essence of life and that she will remain in their hearts forever.

Last summer she began attending Because He Lives Ministries, and in
spite of her illness, she made every effort to be in worship each Sunday.
And when she couldn't, the church family stayed in contact with her.
She was so grateful to Rev. Melvin T. Lee and Mr. Green and all their
members.

Paula is dancing in heaven and leaves to celebrate her life on earth: Her
children; Yolanda Andrea Wyche Gayden, Spencer Wyche III, and her
chosen child Corey Bethea. Her grandchildren; Shanell Clarisa and
Nicole "Diamond" Denise Wyche and great grands, Keigan Camaar and
Nova Khair Wyche. Her uncle, Melvin Scott. Her siblings; Rev. Doro-
thy Scott Boulware, Paul Braswell, Charmaine Sonya Murphy, Cassan-
dra Braswell-Salley, Chris Braswell, Zelda Braswell Holmes and
Marvin Braswell. Her nieces and nephews: Toni (Samuel) Boulware
Stackhouse, Maxie (Vonte) Franklin, Adrian Franklin, Paula (Jamal)
