Obituary

OEDRO CALVIN DICKS, son of the late Susan Dicks and the late Frank Colkley, was born on November 16, 1919 in Sumter, South Carolina. He departed this life after a lengthy illness on May 14, 2009. Pedro received his education in Sumter, S.C. at Lincoln High School. soon after high school he met and fell in love with Adeline T.Dicks who preceded him death in April 2001. Pedro and Adeline were joined in marriage on October 28, 1942. They immediately moved to Baltimore after marriage. To this union, one son and one daughter were born. Pedro worked for Ottenhiemer Publishers from the early 1950's. He took a second job in the early 1960s with the Baltimore County Public School System. He retired from both jobs in mid 1980s, but continued to work part-time for Ottenhiemer Publishers after retirement until 1994. Pedro was long-time member of the Invaders Social Club, holding many different positions. Pedro enjoyed travling with his wife after retirement. they took several cruises together, travling with the many friends they both shared. Pedro"Pete" to many friends will be missed dearly. He leave to mourn: his devoted and dedicated son, Leroy M. Dicks; his loving daughter, Pedrina D. Dicks; daughter-in-law, Clara J. Dicks; grandson, Janaj C. Anderson, Dante Foster and Emanuel Foster; granddaughter, Vonnie Sherman; great-grandson, Teddy Sherman;great-granddaughter, Ashley Butler;devoted cousin, John Dicks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
