IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy Inez
Smith
October 14, 1953 – June 29, 2019
Peggy was born to the late James Albert Smith Sr. And Margie Butler Smith.
Peggy was the fourth of 8 children. Peggy received her education in the
Baltimore City Public School System and it wasn't until mid 80s that she
diligently served as a volunteer. Peggy held a variety of jobs from The Bagel
Shop in Timonium to DMA.
As a young girl, Peggy siblings would describe her as quiet, but she grew to be
known for being both feisty and friendly. It was these very characteristics that
many people loved about her. Peggy made a lot of friends who to her became
family. She was the type of friend that you could depend on for help or a
listening ear. While she proudly remained in the same Cherry Hill Community
where she was raised, she had a homeboy or homegirl everywhere.
Our beloved favorite past times included cleaning, playing cards I lottery,
listening and singing or dancing to oldies but goodies and family gatherings
where she was sure to make her presence known. She also enjoyed long car
rides with one of her life-long friends, Jerome Moulden. Peggy's most prized
possession was her Candy Apple Red nine nine. Everybody knows that it wasn't
just any nine nine, it was a candy Apple Red nine nine. Lastly, amongst other
things, Peggy was strong, she was a fighter which she proved in her three year
battle with cancer.
Peggy is survived by her loving mother Margie Smith; two daughters, Tiffany
Thompson and Candace Kelley; six grandchildren: Takihrah Thompson, Nijahe
Scorpio, Terriq and Taysia Thompson, Aniyah and Avery Parker; three brothers:
James Smith II, Richard Smith Sr. and Rodney Smith, and one brother who
preceded her in death, Delmar;
three sisters: Verniece Banner, Joyce Fortune and Stacey Smith-Jones; two
sister inlaws: Charlene Parker-Smith and Deborah Smith; two life-long friends
Jerome Moulden and Karen Alston; a dear cousin Penny; 2 great aunts; 22
nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles,
homeboys and homegirls.
