Pernie Sue "Alabama" Tell was born to Fannie May Cole on July 22, 1954 in Birmingham, Alabama. She gained her wings on January 2, 2021.
Pernie was raised in the south initially along with her eight sisters, and brother, Frank. She moved to Baltimore Maryland and was separated from her siblings and placed into a foster home on Popular Grove. She attended Calverton Middle School and Carver High School. She loved to draw, read, and watch her Westerns.
Her adult life took her from East Baltimore to West Baltimore, were she made a home in Lexington Terrace. Pernie was well known in the community as a fierce woman that loved her small family, and she ain't take no mess from no one; anybody could get it! Pernie never married.
In Pernie's later years, she devoted herself to the church and joined the Community Baptist Church of Walbrook. She would prep all week to put on her Sunday's best, wait for her transportation, and go to hear the message that the Pastor would give. Pernie spoke endlessly about Pastor Barr and her affection with the church and congregation.
She will be lovely remembered by: her two sons, Carroll "Bam Bam" Skipwith, and Dwight "Little Man" Skipwith; grand children, Carolyn Skipwith, Daquane Skipwith, Laila Skipwith, Talib Skipwith, Deonta Skipwith, Zykirrah Skipwith, and Donyell Skipwith; great grandchildren, Chloe Mills, Leontay Taylor Jr., and Zai'Neira Lawson; eight sisters and their children; brother, Frank Walker and his entire family; and a host of other friends and loved ones that have become family over the years.
