IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter J.
Burgess
April 24, 1958 – October 17, 2018
On October 17, 2018, after a short illness, Peter
passed from earth to eternity.
Peter James Burgess was born on April 24, 1958:
He was the oldest son of Moses Burgess and Electra
Ingram Jones. Peter had a younger brother and an
older sister.
Peter attended and advanced through the Baltimore
City Public School System, graduating from Forest
Park High School in 1976. Years later, he was proud
to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from Coppin
State University.
Peter was born and raised in the Pennsylvania
Avenue AME Zion Church, participating in many
Youth activities. He served one year as Youth Day
Chairman. Peter was a big man who loved to eat
(Holidays at his sister's house were interesting) and
he had a beautiful big bass/baritone voice. He
loved to sing. He expressed that love of song on the
Young Adult Choir and Zion Echoes of the Pennsylvania
Avenue Church and the Morgan State University Choir.
Peter changed jobs when he found it necessary, but he
found stability with Chimes DC, where he was employed
at the time of his death. He was a man of uncomplicated
tastes and needs, but he loved to dress stylishly, and he
did so.
Peter never married and did not have children.
Peter leaves to remember and mourn his life: A sister,
Dorothy Colette Jackson (Ronald) of Glen Burnie, MD;
a brother, Allen Scott Burgess of Baltimore; and a host
of cousins, nieces and nephews
