IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond J.
Bell, Sr.
October 11, 1954 – May 31, 2018
Raymond Joseph Bell, Sr.
,
son of the late John Ernest Bell, Sr.,
and Ruth Mildred Bell, was born October 11,1954, in Baltimore, Maryland. Raymond was the third oldest
often children. On Thursday, May 31,2018, Raymond unexpectedly departed this life.
Raymond, affectionately known as 'Stutters', had a very distinct walk that could be recognized by
everyone who knew him, especially his mother. Raymond also had a great sense of humor and lived a
fearless life. Raymond was baptized at a very early age at Fountain Baptist Church in Baltimore,
Maryland.
Educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, Raymond worked at Provident Hospital for many
years. Over the years, Raymond's love for cooking led him to work in many restaurants throughout the
Baltimore area. Raymond never prepared meals using recipes, instead always opting to rely on his
knowledge of seasonings and flavors.
Raymond had a special way of communicating with his brothers that only they understood. With his
brothers, they developed a unique language which only they could understand, which would drive all of
his sisters insane because they were never taught the language. To add to the frustration of the sisters,
many times the conversations were about them and all of the brothers would laugh hysterically. All of
the brothers were extremely close to one another, and when a family member said something that
made no sense, they would look at one another and start a special whistling. The family later caught on,
however, and discovered that it was their special way of saying "he or she was as fruity as a fruitcake."
Yes, Raymond had a great sense of humor!
During his younger years, Raymond enjoyed gathering with his friends in the basement of his mother's
home where they played pool and ping pong for hours. As the oldest brother, Raymond was very
protective of his sisters and had no problem telling his friends they were not permitted to date his
sisters. Raymond had a wonderful heart, giving heart and would unselfishly sacrifice his own interests
for the interests of others.
Raymond was preceded in death by two sisters: Cassandra Stevenson and Donna McDaniel.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Ruth Mildred Bell; a very special friend, Roslyn
Starks, two sons, Raymond Joseph Bell, Jr. and Enrico Bell; two granddaughters and a grandson; four
sisters, Jacqueline Bell, Brenda Moore, Ernestine Wise, and Theresa Bell; three brothers, Michael,
Anthony, and John Bell; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.
