Raymond Avon Berkley Jr. was born on March 10, 1964 to
Raymond A. Berkley Sf. and the late Ethel M. Berkley in Baltimore, Maryland.
He departed this life on July 23,2018.
In his youth, he attended the Public Schools of Baltimore City
(Fredrick Douglass High School). At an early age he attended and
joined the Olivet Baptist Church where he participated in Sunday
school and Bible study.
Raymond was known as Avon, Barney, Ray, Silk and Steven Wallace.
As a young man, he worked at McCormick Spice Company Incorporated,
Bill Bateman's restaurant, Mt. Calvary Cemetery and other family businesses. '
Raymond had many talents, during his spare time he enjoyed drawing,
playing basketball, listening and singing along to music as well as dancing.
He collected many cd's from his favorite artists James Ingram and
Brian McKnight. At family 4th of July cook-outs you would always find him
doing some type of soul train dance and splits. He was known for
remixing R & B songs to put his spin on them. His two famous hits were
"You Must Not Know Bout Me; I'm Beyonce's Brother" and
"Tell Me What's For Lunch." remix from the group Dru Hill.
In recent years, Raymond was a resident of Mrs. Marie Patterson's
assisted living facilities. He loved traveling around the city arriving at
his destinations by walking or on the bus or subway. He loved to eat.
He was the go to person for help with small jobs around the
house and for any other family members who needed his help. He liked
people and had a lot of friends. He loved snacks and any sweet was
his favorite liked sports but he loved to play basketball.
He will be remembered for his ready smile, humor and kind heart.
