Obituary

Raymond Montgomery, son of Annie D. Montgomery and the late Leroy Montgomery, was born August 14, 1960. He was called home by his Heavenly Father suddenly on June 15,2015. Raymond, known to many of his friends as "Ray" was educated in the Howard County Public Schools and graduatedfrom Howard High School in Columbia, Maryland in 1978. As a young man, Raymond was a member of the First Christian Community Church in Jessup, Maryland. Like his older brother, the late Clifton E. Montgomery, Raymond displayed the gift of an inquisitive mind for all things mechanical. Though they shared a love for cars and trucks, Ray was more interested in the workings of systems like heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and electronics. After completing high school he enrolled in the Eastern Vocational Technical School to pursue his dream. Once certified, he was able to begin living his dream. He later built a career in building management and made many friendships doing work that he loved. He spent the majority of his career with The Time Group (a Baltimore-based real estate equity investmentfirm) and most recently Agora, Inc. (a Baltimore-based publishing holding company). Raymond had a warm down-to-earth spirit, natural charm and a healthy sense of humor. Luck seemed to ride on his shoulders. While he enjoyed his independence, he made friends easily and was always willing to share his time, knowledge and skills to lend a helping hand. He often volunteered his talents; and usually found it impossible to say "no" to others who needed assistance. He was also very competitive and generally excelled at whatever task was given to him. His hobbies included repairing cars, bowling, softball, car racing, andfishing the inland and coastal waters of South Carolina. Cherishing the memories of his life are his mother, Annie D. Montgomery; two sisters, Annie L. Montgomery and Lisa Steele; one niece, Kelly White; one nephew, Ronald Steele; three aunts, one uncle, a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
