Raymond Spence was born August 15, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the fourth of seven children born to the now deceased Catherine and Alonzo Spence. Although Raymond was part of a large family, it was a very close knit and loving family. Raymond matriculated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1966. Shortly after graduation he obtained a position with J.Donahue Panits. This brgan a life long career of working in the feild og home improvemnt and construction. During the course of his life he would hold a number og jobs in this feild with various companies including Bethlehem Steel and Alliance Roofing. He held the position of foreman with Welch Construction until he became ill and was no longer able to work. Raymond had two children, Carlos Kutcherman and Shantel Spence. He was a proud and loving father, who lovingly referred to his daughter, Shanetel , as his "Boo". His beloved son, Carlos is currently serving in the military. In 1971, Raymond met the love of his life, Sheil Anne Curtis. Sheila and Raymond were married October 12, 1985. Toghter Raymond and Sheila raised her son Antonie Tutt. Raymond was a loving husband and father who worked hard to care for his family. Shela and Raymond were devoted to each other, often referring to themselves as best friends. Raymond and Sheila celebrated 23 years of marriage in October 2008. In 1989 while visiting the New Psalmist Baptist Church, Raymond gave his life to Christ. On that day, a butterfly flew into the church and hovered around his head. Raymond saw the event as a sign that it was time for him to give his life to Christ. He was a faithful member of the church and rarely missd an opportunity to witness for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Raymond's Favortie scipture was John 3:16. It was his desire that all his friends and loved ones would come to Christ. One os Raymond's proudest moments was serving as an honor graud for the consecration service when his pastor, Rev. Walter Thomas, Sr., was elevated to the office of bishop in 2005. After a brief illness, Raymond went peacefully to bwe with the Lord on Saturday, August 22, 2009. Raymond was known to his family and friends, as a hard working Christian man who loved God and his family. He had a spirits of excellence about everything in return, not only through physical means, but in every aspect possible. All who knew him will miss his genuine kindness and childlike smile and will cherish the memory of his faithful and unwavering love. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Sheila Spence; daughter Shantel Spence; sons Carlos Kutchermann and Antoine Tutt; sisters Brenda Bernard, Carolyn Spence, Delores Tyree, Merle Spence, Yvonne banks; brother Melvin Spence; broher-in-law Leroy Tyree and Horace A. Curtis; sister-in-law Beverly Spence; grand- daughters Shakira Davis, Shamekia Conway and Hallayah Kutcherman; daughter-in-law Rhonda Kutcherman; two aunts Phillis Long and Charlottee Sye and uncle Donald Jones and Jimmy Jones. He also leaves to mourn a host of niecs, nephewa, cousin, friends and special friends Wilhelmina James and William Gill.
