February 17, 1932 – June 13, 2019
Evangelist Rebecca Brandon-Edwards born February 17,1932 in Alton, Virginia to
the late Alexander and Virginia (Walker) Barnett, the last of 16 children all who
preceded her in death.
Evangelist Brandon-Edwards attended elementary school in Mason Chapel, Virginia
before relocating to Baltimore, Maryland at the tender age of eight following the
death of her mother.
She received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools with the help of her
best friend and cousin Emma Brandon.
Evangelist Brandon Edwards met and married William Henry Brandon Sr. in 1950
until his death in 1983, from this union six children were born and she adopted her
grandson, Troy Brandon after the death of her oldest daughter Donna R. Brandon
Amos.
Evangelist Brandon-Edwards was baptized at the age of 12 at First Apostolic Church
under the leadership of Elder Wiley Owens of Highway Christian Church, later under
the leader the leadership of Pastor Wesley A. Thomas, serving as the director of the
Senior Choir for many years, she later became the Pastor's Aid, she also organized
an annual Senior Citizen's day to service the senior's with assistance through the
church, after the passing of Pastor Wesley Thomas, she became a member of Saint
Matthews Gospel Tabernacle there she received a diploma Certificate of Ministries,
the Director of the Senior Choir, President of the Alter Board and President of the
Nurses Guild.
Under Pastor Bessie Spence of Christ Temple Church she was ordained and called to
ministries in 1982.
In 1999 she met and married Iohn L. Edwards who without complaint lovingly cared
for her until his passing on March 21, 2019 after 19 years of marriage.
Evangelist Brandon-Edwards until her passing was a faithful member of the Apostol-
ic Bible Study Church under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop Arthur H. Coleman
Sr. whom she loved and called her home.
Evangelist Brandon-Edwards was loved by many and she loved all, her door always
opened for family and friends that needed help, never saying no but what I can do.
She loved her grandchildren, great grands and great- great grands, especially her
boys as she called them.
She leaves to mourn their loss three daughters, Diane Brandon, Octavia Shearin and
Willette Brandon; two sons William H. Brandon Jr. and Troy Brandon; two daugh-
ters preceded her in death, Donna -R. Brandon-Amos and Katherine E. Wyatt; 10
grandchildren, 13 great-grand children and 13 great -great grandchildren, one who
preceded her in death at the age of 12; two devoted nephews, Wayne Lindsey and
Michael Brandon and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
