Regina Yvonne Porter, daughter of the late James Claxton Porter, Sr. and Ellen Frances Porter was born on June 11,1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Saturday, May 6,2017 after a short illness.
Regina received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She was employed by Baltimore City Department of Public Works until she retired.
She had two children Tyrece D. Lane and Kaylin T. Burrell. Regina was known as "Jean" by her family and friends. Regina gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of the Leadenhall Baptist Church. In her later years she attended The Empowerment Temple AME Church. Regina was an avid reader and could complete a book in one day. She enjoyed drinking her Pepsi, eating Fritos and Sugar Babies. "Jean" loved baking for her family, many indulged and requested her homemade banana pudding. She always attended the monthly family gatherings and frequently made all laugh and smile. She loved to talk and have a good conversation. "Jean" was very generous and supportive of her family and friends in anyway possible. Jean loved children and was a caregiver for many.
Her children, Tyrece and Kaylin spent time with their mother watching movies and ordering take-out. She loved her sister and one of her favorite sayings was "that's my sister." Jean loved all her nephews and nieces but had a close relationship with her nieces Dineen and Kennita. Her two closest friends Shelby Johnson and Jeanette Burch-Smith supported her until the end. She had a dear friend Juanita Studivant the mother of Regina's goddaughter Serena Studivant.
Regina leaves to mourn: two children, Tyrece and Kaylin; one sister, Linda (Wendell); one uncle, Joseph Porter (Ann) Portsmouth, VA; one aunt, Sarah Porter Woodland, NC and one sister-in-law, Wilma Shannon. Also she leaves to mourn a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
