Obituary

Reginald Theodore Hudson, Sr., the son of the late Howard F. Jennings Sr. and Gloria A.

Hudson Smith, was born on November 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life

quietly at home surrounded by loving family members on March 17, 2022.

Reginald was the oldest of all his siblings and was reared in the marriage of Norman and Gloria

Smith's household with two sisters, Marcia, Bridgett and brother, Bradford.

Although he was born with Cerebral Palsy, this disability never slowed him down. He was

raised to never dwell on a "handicap," but to do anything he set his mind to do, and he did. He

was a happy child and grew to be a loving, kind man who could do anything he set his mind to

do. Reginald was very handy with his hands, a regular Mr. Fix It. He would do any home

improvements from electrical work to plumbing.

He attended the William S. Baer School for his early education. He later attended Clifton Park

Junior High School and then Baltimore City College, graduating in 1964. After high school he

attended Morgan State College, now Morgan State University, for two years as a history major.

While at Morgan Reginald participated in the ROTC Program.

Reginald was always willing and ready to attend church. He attended New Pilgrims Baptist

Church located on Rutland Avenue. He accepted Christ at the age of ten and was baptized at

Nazarene Temple on Harford Road under the leadership of Elder Thomas Harris. Reginald was

invited to church by his coworker Bishop Michael Chapman in March of 1974, that encounter

ignited his soul and he and his family joined the Highway Church of Christ on 1600 Harlem

Avenue in April of 1974 under the late Bishop Robert Evans Jr. In 1992 he joined the ministry

of Apostle Joan Sanders at El Bethel Prayer Tabernacle and remained an active member until

his health began to fail in 2018, although he could not physically attend service, he remained

devoted to his love for Christ and God's people.

Reginald was ordained a deacon in 1994 and later elevated & ordained an Elder on November 10,

2007, under the leadership of the late Apostle Joan B. Sanders at El-Bethel Prayer Tabernacle

Ministries. Prior to accepting his call to the ministry, he always said to others and unto the Lord, "Iwant to be a man amongst men." His request was granted! He wasn't known for his eloquence of

speaking from the pulpit, but he found his joy in speaking to people who were in "the pull-pits" of

life. Just as he was a"Mr. Fixer Upper" in small matters in the home, he became a "Fixer Upper" ofyour day-to-day troubles of life.

Reginald, listened to find a solution to the problem(s); he wanted to make a difference. So, whethermale or female, he made your concern his concern and he took it to the Lord in prayer. And, afterthe prayer (and tongues), he would speak prophetically into your life with both words of

encouragement and clear direction(s). Thus Reginald T. Hudson became an Elder among the Elders.

He was great listener, greeted people with a smile and left you with a hug or handshake. Above all, ifhe knew you, you were going to receive a hug before leaving his presence.

Reginald started his first job at the age of fifteen working summers on a poultry farm. He held jobs

at ABACUS, Union Memorial Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital before acquiring his job with

Baltimore Gas and Electric as a meter reader in 1969. Reginald retired from BGE in January 1994

after 25 years of service. He became gainfully employed with Goucher State College in 1997 andretired completely in 2000.

Throughout his lifetime, he had a love for nature and animals. He had various pets such as a rabbit,

dogs birds, a turtle, a small lizard and tropical fish. His favorite pet, Tiger the Cat, came to the house

in january 2010 as a 6-month-old kitten and the two shared a very close bond. Tiger was by his side

Reginald had a love for family and community. He was well respected in the Community, you

would find him cleaning up outside, doing personal bags for the homeless and at times lookingfor someone to share Thanksgiving with his family. He would invite total strangers in to feed

them and have prayer. He believed this was his calling. He opened his heart and home to those

in need and had hosted many people to live in his home with his family during times of need

He was a cheerful giver and believed in the tithe. Covenant relationship with God was

important to him and he taught his children the importance of relationship with God. Reginald

had so many close relationships in family, community and Church. He will be sorely missed
