Reginald Allen Thornton, son of Elizabeth (Thornton) and Lawrence Williams was born on September 7, 1943. He departed this life, after a lengthy illness on December 23, 2013. Reginald's life journey began at Dunbar Elementary School. He later graduated from Carver Vocational Technical School where he majored in auto mechanics. He married Myrita Gordon in 1962, and was divorced in 1968. From this union a daughter, Sonia Thornton was born. Reginald served in the United States Army from 1968-1974. While in Vietnam, he served as a gunner on the convoy trucks. In 1977, he again embraced fatherhood with twins, Michael and Nicole. He later married two more times, to his childhood sweetheart, Ann Mitchell, and to Brenda Bennet. Both preceded him in death. After 22 years of service, he retired from University Hospital with senior Mechanic ran kings, and made a host of life long friends. Reggie loved fishing, crabbing, and card playing. He was an avid sports fan, and shared his enthusiasm with everyone. He leaves to mourn: Sonia, Nicole and Michael; five stepchildren in- cluding Lori, Deneen, Shelly, David and Marcus; 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his dad, Lawrence; stepmother, Althea; brother, Norman Burrell, sister-in-law, Delores Burrell; a sister, Sherry Barber, a step-brother, Devin Taylor and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
