Renee Laverne Smith, daughter of the late Percy Simpson and late Edna Reddick was born in Baltimore, MD on July 30, 1956. She took God's unchanging hand and departed this life on January 22, 2014 after a lengthy illness. Renee was exceptionally bright as a child and always had a vast thirst for knowledge. At the age of 17 she graduated from Northwestern High school with honors. As important as education was to Renee, she put her education on the back burner to focus on having a family of her own. She and Willie J. Smith Jr. had a daughter CaTrina and then married in 1974. She began her travels of the world as she was a military wife. Their union produced two more children, Anita and Nadene. Renee had a genuine love for people, especially children. She spent countless hours taking her children, nieces and nephews and any other children that wanted to tag along on outings to amusements parks, the pool or anywhere they could have fun. Renee settled back in Baltimore, doing a host of jobs like substitute teaching, community activism and as a residential assistant at The House of Ruth. She became ill and had to take time to heal and replenish herself. She decided to pursue her education and received her A. A. Degree from Baltimore City Community College in Human Services and her B. S. Degree from Morgan State University in Psychology. She went on to become an addictions counselor for York County Government. She is preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Edna, step father, Alvin Reddick, 1 special niece, Sharon Smith, in-laws for life Elease and Willie Smith, Sr. She leaves to mom her daughters CaTrina, Anita, and Nadene. A special "son," Herlend JR. Ten grandchildren - Keera, NaTeera, RaQuan, Tashawn, Keonte, Novelle, Anyah, Trivelle, Aniyah and Herlend, III. Two great- grandsons, Kayce and Amari. One sister Denise.
