Richard Chester Woods was born on June 12, 1929 in Woodsdale, North Ccarolina to the late Henry Woods and Mytle Paylar. He departed this life on January 13, 2010 at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his education in the Woodsdale, North Carolina Public School system. In his early years he worked as a farmer and in later years in construction. Richard gave himself to Christ at an early and joined the allen Chapel Church in Woodsdale, North Carolina. Watching television, hunting, fishing, and playing lottery were some of Richard's favorites. He also loved spending time his daughters, grand kids and going over his granddaughter's house to be surrounded by his family. He loved bread and could not eat a meal without it. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brothers James Woods, Albert Woods, Declemie, Harlod Woods, Thomas Woods, and Lindbergh Wods of Roxboro, North Cacrolina. Fond memories of Richard will be cherished by his wife, Dorothy R. Woods of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters Dinah Poteat and Veronica Ford of Baltimore, Maryland; family friend, Douglas Melvin Jr., of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister Roberta Woods of Semora, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Dwight Woods Sr., Daniel Poteat, Damon Robinson, Tameka Boyd-Eggleston and Devrin ford deceased of Baltimore, Maryland; grand-son-in-law, Ryan K. Eggleston of Baltimore, Maryland; granddaught-in-law Kimberly Woods of Baltimore, Maryland; thirteen great grandchildren, Dwight Woods, Jr., Lavon Woods, Tisha Woods, Daniela Poteat, Daniel Poteat Jr., Shawn Poteat, Kendare Poteat, Marquisate Poteat, Lewis D. Lambert Jr., Bernadette Eggleston, Darius K. Eggleston, Kamrin M. Eggleston and Courtney Woods; one great-great grandchild, Myra Woods of Dalisbury, Maryland; adopted family members, Hilda Manuel, Jonathan Manual, Tina deceased, Jimmy, Chrissie and curtis Epps; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who loved him.
