IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard A.
Epps, Sr.
July 15, 1955 – February 22, 2019
RICHARD A. EPPS, SR. (Rick), son of the late Junius Epps
and Alice Epps, was born on July 15, 1955 in Baltimore,
Maryland. He departed this life on February 22,2019 from
a sudden illness. His belief in God supported him in his
untimely departure and ultimately gave him peace.
Rick received his education in the Baltimore City Public
School System. In 1974, he received his high school diplo-
ma from Southern High School now known as Digital
Harbor High School. While at Southern he was known as a
standout basketball player.
While in high school he met his high school sweetheart out
of that union one son was born, Richard A. Epps, Jr. While
Rick had a number of scholarship offers to play college
basketball he turned them down to take care of his son. Rick
decided to enlist into the United States Army. While serving
in the Army his main focus was taking care of his family.
After serving his tour of duty, he was granted an honorable
discharge and he returned back home to Baltimore. When
Rick returned to Baltimore he started working for a number
of different moving companies where he served in the roll
as supervisor. He worked for Maryland Office Relocators,
Inc, Mid Atlantic Corporate Service, and Office Relocation
Group where he retired from in July 2017.
In 1985 he met and dated the love of his life Claudine
Dotson. On November 25, 1989 she made Rick the happiest
man in the world by becoming his loving and devoted wife.
In 29 years of marriage they created a wonderful family and
a lifelong partnership. Rick and Claudine loved to travel
and spend time together but they really enjoyed spending
time at home with family and friends.
Rick loved playing pool, he played in a pool league AP A
were he won numerous trophies. He also loved to play cards
and watch sports on television. He loved telling people how
good he was in basketball when he was young. He always said
there were two things that he was good at, shooting pool and
shooting a basketball.
Rick was a loving person who loved helping people. Rick
would give you his last dollar and help anyone in need. If it was
helping move furniture or just giving you advice, he was
always there for the people he loved. Rick will be deeply
missed but we will celebrate the fact that he was loved while he
was here and will be loved forever.
Rick is survived by wife Claudine Epps, son Richard Epps, Jr,
