RICHARD DONNELL HOOPER, son of the late Henry A. Hooper and Tamara Inez Hooper Rose, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 13, 1953. On March 30, 2014, Richard peacefully departed this life after a brief illness. Richard, known to everyone as "Ricky", received his education in the Baltimore City School System. Although Ricky was a "Jack of all Trades", he mastered in Upholstery. For his family and friends, he took on all tasks including painting, landscaping and plumbing specializing in whatever home repair or renovations that required his attention at that time. Ricky shared that much of his knowledge of these skills came from his brother in law, the late Melvin Roles. In 1998, Ricky connected with VIP (Violent Intervention Program) at the University of Maryland Hospital. He was selected to speak for the VIP program throughout Baltimore City including at the Reginald Lewis Museum. Ricky served and supported young men who needed to know that there was a better life after violence and addiction. Ricky accepted Christ as his personal Savior in 2007 and became a member of the Charity A.M.E. Zion Church where he remained a faithful member until his passing. Bro. Ricky was an usher, outreach chairman and president of the Lay Council. Richard, the youngest of seven, was preceded in death by his brothers Curtis Beatty and Van Hooper. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother, Melvin Beatty; three sisters, Eunice Hankins, Patricia Roles, and Sheila Hooper; two aunts, Barbara Shaw and Beulah Maxwell; uncle, Troy Maxwell; a host of favorite nieces, great nieces, nephews; great nephews, cousins and friends.
