IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Larry
King
January 12, 1947 – July 30, 2018
My life began on earth January 12, 1947 to Dorothy White King and
John King, the only child from this union. I was nurtured and trained
by my grandparents Rosa Lee (IE) and James (Pop) Scott. I was reared
in a Christian home and at a young age received Jesus Christ into my heart.
Even though they did not have the means of great wealth as a young child
whatever I wanted to pursue in life to advance in my skills and talents they
provided. I took piano lessons for a while but stopped; too many girls in the
class! I played the saxophone and was first chair clarinet.
In times of correction I would feel the corrective hand of Uncle Buddy
(Richard White) but the loving watchful eye of Auntie (Emily Riddic)
was there to comfort.
I was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from
Baltimore City College. My business' career in retailed started after high school
at Hochschild Kahn as a stockperson. My 40 years of retail experience carried me
from such businesses as Montgomery Ward, the Diplomat Shop, Webster's Men
Store, Circuit City, Best Buy, and The Hecht Company. I gained much knowledge
and skills to manage all that served with me to a level store manager. I retired
from Sears in 2012.
In my years of retail experience I have learned and taught my fellow co-workers
life skills, proper work ethics and had encouraged them to do and be better in life.
In 1965 through a course of events I would meet the most wonderful person; the
love of my life. In 1969 I married Neola Dashiell. Out of this 49 year union where
no natural children; but we have nurtured and loved countless children and even
adults as if they were our own to pour into them godly principles and skills for life.
At the age of 68 I had the daily joy for 3 years the presence of one little precious
gem whose name is Cydney "Girl" Madison Williams. The joy that she brought to
our home was indescribable. Cydney, Uncle Kingee loves you; but you still have
Aunt NeNe. I will miss the time we could have had. There is more that I could
share that I did in this life but on July 30, 2018 this earthly life ceased.
