Reaves
May 18, 1932 – December 29, 2017
Richard Henry Reaves, the son of Deacon Thomas Allen
Reaves, Jr. and Musettie Reaves Gause was born
May 18, 1932 in Shallotte, North Carolina.
Richard was educated in Brunswick County, North Carolina
and the Baltimore City School System, ultimately completing
the Welding Program at Carver Vocational Technical High
School Adult Program. Richard was commissioned as an
Armed Rite Aid Security Officer where he later retired from
after 25 years of service.
Richard enjoyed visiting his friends and going out dancing
with his wife Vonzella, especially line dancing and the Cha-Cha.
During the summer months, he enjoyed trips to the Baltimore
Zoo and fishing with his friends. His hobbies included collecting
cans and cooking crabs "no one did it better" than him.
Throughout the years, Richard was also affiliated with the Hiram
Grand Lodge of the state of Maryland Ancient Free and Accepted
Masons. . ,
Our Heavenly Father called Richard home to be with his parents
and siblings on Friday, December 29,2017 at Northwest Hospital,
Randallstown, Maryland. His six siblings who all preceded him
in death include James Reaves, Boyise Reaves, John Reaves,
Frank Reaves, Zula Reaves Jenrette, and Annie Mae Reaves
Jenrette-Vaught.
Richard was joined in holy matrimony to Carrie Mae Bellamy
(deceased). God blessed this union with three children,
Charles Reaves (Marie), Wilbert Reaves, and Annette Hale
(Jimmie). Later he was joined in holy matrimony with
Vonzella Reaves. God blessed this union with three
stepchildren, Gregory James, Koran Winder and Larry Williams.
Richard also leaves to cherish his memories, sisters-in-law Sindia Arrington, Valencia Winder Tabb, Deborah Gaither Monroe,
Yvette Gaither, Deanna Gaither, Melissa Gaither, Lerdell Holland
and Willie Grey Gore; one aunt, Bertha Reaves Scott of Jamaica,
New York, and a host of dedicated grandchildren, great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
