Richard Lee Hicks, son of the late Rebie Ricks was born October 6, 1939 in Southampton County, Virginia .

He attended Sussex County Schools. He moved to Baltimore, Maryland in the early fifties, where he took a career in construction, until he retired.

Richard joined Fellowship Spiritual Church, under the late Bishop Tyrone B. Griffin. He was a faithful member for over 30 years. He served as a Deacon and later elected Chairman of the Deacon Board until his health decline. Richard loved to sing and listen to gospel music. He loved to travel back home to Virginia, especially for family reunions. It was important for him to pray with family before traveling.

Richard departed this life on November 11, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Ricks and sisters, Rosa Ricks and Amether Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, James Braxton; his grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Acree of Baltimore, MD, Virginia Granger of Baltimore, MD and Agnes Brown (Clarence) of Disputanta, VA; one aunt, Frances Williams of Courtland, VA; his god daughter, Terie Shelton (Tom) of Baltimore, MD; a host of nieces and nephews, one devoted nephew Carlton Granger of Baltimore, MD, cousins and friends; devoted friends, Curtis Clark, Robert Earl and The Flowers Family.
