Richard D. Newby Jr., son of Ethel and Andrew Newby, was born May 29, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on September 9,2015. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System. He went on to attend college at both Morgan State University and Baltimore City Commu- nity College. He gained employment at the Social Security Administration where he was employed for more then 39 years. He was a loyal employee whom worked his way up to be a supervisor in the Teleservice Center until he retired in August 2013. As a child he played baseball and basketball with enthusiasm and skill. He was so skilled he represented Baltimore in several out of state events. He kept a proud trophy table. As an adult he was a member of the Romans Softball team for many years. There comes a time in every athlete's life when he can no longer participate. He becomes a spectator. He put that same enthusiasm into watching sports. Especially during "March Madness". He loved his Lakers and Ravens! Richard was a "cool and smooth" dude in his words who made friends wherever he went. He loved to travel to North Carolina with his softball team year after year, where they would return and have stories for days of just how much fun they had. He was known to break out and do what he called "dancing" anywhere. He enjoyed SPAM so much he probably kept them in business! He loved to tell his corny knock knock jokes to try to make others laugh. He was previously married to Patricia Newby and from that union they had four children, daughter, Kenya Newby (Scoop), son, Richard D. Newby Jr. whom preceded him in death, daughter, Keara Newby (Dinka Baby) and son, Jerod Newby (Rod J) whom will all miss him dearly. He leaves to mourn: mother, Ethel Newby (Monna); sisters, Gloria Sanders, Barbara Bell; brother-in-law, Calvin Bell; special uncle, James Williams of Baltimore; two uncles, two aunts, three nieces, Ciara Sanders, Kellan Newby-Phipps, Keshawn Newby; two nephews, Kenneth Newby Jr., Kevin Newby; grandchildren, Kenhya Carter, Montez Chapman Jr., Kamond Chapman, Jerbrea Newby, Keryne Burnside, Taylor Mitchell, Logan Newby.
