Obituary

Reverend Rickey Larry Samuel was born on Thursday, March 27, 1958 in

Baltimore, Maryland to the late Alice Lee Samuel Thompson and William

Hubert Thomason. Rickey, affectionately known as "Rick" to his family

and friends, transitioned from his earthly life January 22, 2022 @6:09 a.m.

after his long and courageous battle with lung cancer.

Rickey and his siblings had a spiritual upbringing by his maternal grand-

mother, mother and other spiritual family leaders. When Rick was a young

boy, his grandmother, Reverend Mary Ann Samuel prophesied that he

would become a man of God. Rickey accepted God in his life at a young

age.

Soon after graduation, Rick join the U.S. Army, where he received his

honorable discharge

On March 13, 1991 Rickey married Janice Lane Samuel and through this

union Rick gained two bonus children Patrice and Patrick Furlow, whom

he loved dearly. Rick loved the Ravens, he also enjoyed spending time

with the family, especially the yearly family reunion held at Carroll Park;

and he loved spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.

Over the years Rickey held various positions, including telemarketing,

addiction counselor, and home improvement. Even though, he was a very

hard worker, Rickey had his own struggles in life, but he knew God had a

better plan for life. It was Christopher's Place where he gained his sobriety;

and eventually became a volunteer peer and N/A counselor for several

years. During those years Rick was the official spokesman for Christopher

Place, and he was asked to speak at many elaborate, black tie fundraising

events.

Later on, Rickey started his own home improvement business known as

Rickey's Odd Jobs with a smile, (R.O.J.S), where he provided many

services for family, friends, and various organizations.

On November 2, 2014 Rickey was ordained as a minister, under the

leadership of Bishop Jude Egeby, where he served as an Associate Pastor

for both Transformation Temple in Baltimore and Philadelphia.

Rickey was employed with University of Maryland/Harbor City Mental

Health for youth and adults as a Counselor and Unlimited Bounds Human

Services as a Peer Recovery Coach,until he transitioned from his earthly

life and received his heavenly wings. Those who worked with him, knew

he was a hard and diligent worker; and knew he had a passion for working
