Rickey Ernette Walters affectionately know as Rickey Bird.aka Rickey Lolo was born March 17,
1956 to JC and Lola Walters. Rickey was the youngest of five sons born of this union. His brothers Jerry,
Gilbert, Charles, Michael, and his Nephew Gary preceded him in death.
Rickey was born in Baltimore, and spent most of his summers in Athens Georgia. Rickey received his
education in Baltimore City Public School system, after graduating from Walbrook High School he enlisted
in the U.S. Army, as Missile Repair Technician, repairing Tow Dragon's and other missiles. During his
service he received, The Army Overseas Ribbon, The National Defense Service Medal, The Expert Badge
(M-16) and Grenade recognition, in addition to others.
Rickey married Theresa "'Bubby" in 1983,and formed a family that included her son Rentate Sterette
(Squirt) who he raised as his own. The marriage ended in divorce years later, however; they remained
good friends, and he continued a long loving relationship with his Step-Son.
Rickey was very talented, athletic, and skilled with his hands, he could fix almost anything, and his
numerical recall was unmatched. He loved to sing, dance, and fish. He was an exceptional roller skater, and
loved playing basketball……"He had Game"!
Rickey stayed strong in mind and spirit throughout his illness until his last days with us, God called him
home on May 21, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
Rickey leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and dedicated Son, Rentate (Squirt) Sterrette; two
Sisters-in-Law, Doriene and Shirley Walters; Goddaughter, Ceairra; his best friends, Punchy and Bubby,
and a host of Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. Rickey will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
