The life and spirit of Robert L. Amason, Jr. began on December 7, 1919 in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was born to Robert A. Amason, Sr. and Orella Humbert Amason. He was brought up in a Christian family which attended the First Baptist Church East in Winston Salem, NC. He entered into eternal rest on Friday morning on Jan- uary 3, 2014. He attended Kimberly Park Elementary School in Win- ston Salem, NC. He graduated from Atkins High School in 1940. Robert served his military years in the Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army of the U.S. on the 31st day of 1949. Robert worked in the public school system during the day as Head Engineer at Poly Tech High School and at night he worked in the public school system as head custodian at school #99 located at North Avenue and Washington Street for 15 years. Robert moved and resided to Philadelphia, PA were he transferred to their public school system where he retired with 25 years of service. He served as a deacon at the Greater Saint Luke Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Robert was a loving and devoted husband who was family oriented. He enjoyed being with family and his kids. He loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Proceeding him in death, Annie Amason (wife), Charlotte Amason and Joyce Rodgers (daughters), Thomas Smith (stepson), Michele Dyson (granddaughter), James, Henry, Glenn Calvin, Leander (brothers) and Mary Alice Ledbetter (sister). He leaves to mourn: ex-wife, Mary Amason; two daughters, Vanessa Winchester and Tanya Thompson; one step-daugh- ter, Wanda Reed; two sons, Akil Fadail and Dana Amason; two sons-in-law, Shelley Winchester and Frank Thompson; one daughter-in-law, Tessa Smith; one brother, Alphonso R. Amason; one sister, Annie P. Wilson and one sister-in-law, Delores Amason and a host of grandchildren, great- grand- children, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Memorial Service Joseph H.
