Obituary

Robert Vencent Bob Bailey, the son of the late Alberta and Obadiah Bailety, was born in Onancock, Virginia on Febuary 7, 1915. He went home to be with Jesus on May 20. 2010. He received his early education in the Public School System of Accomack County, Virginia. While still a youngster, Bob accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending the Mission church in Onsncock, Virginia. Seeing to improve his economic condition, he move to Baltimore, Maryland in 1938 and obtained a job as a longshoreman. By the time he retired in 1977, he had achieved the position of crane operator. He married Cecilia Brown The marriage ended in an amicable divorce. Later, he had a daughter, Barbara Key. In 1947, Bob married Henriette Whittington and became the proud father of Douglas deceased and Paul whittington. One of his joys in life was being "Dad" to Douglas, Paul and Barbara. He jioned Shiloh Christian Community Church where he served as a trustee for more than thirty years. After his retirement in 1977, he was able to pursue his passions of hunting, fishing, playing pinochle and traveling with good friends, Mildred and Leslie Stokes. He continued enjoying these activities until his health began to fail. As his health deteriorated further, he and Henrietta moved to Crownville, Maryland to live with Paul and Daphne. Here, he received excellent care until his transfer to The Anne Arundel County Medical Center, from which he departed to be with Jesus. We believe Bob is more alive than ever at this very moment. We also believe he is thoroughly enjjoying his time with Jesus, his parents, his siblings, Dot, Lucille, George, Albert, Lucy and William and his many friends who went to Heaven before him. Left to cherish fond memories of Bab until being reunited with him are; his bride of sixty-three years, Henrietta; a son Paul Whittington; a daughter, a daughter Barbara Key; a sister Mamie Downey; a brother-in-law, Robert Downey; two sisters-in-law, Esther Whittington and Mary Whittington; a special niece whom Robert and Henrietta raised from the age of five, Denise Dubin; two daughters-in-law, Daphne Whittington and Brenda Whittington; nine grandchildren, Chad Key, Michael Whittington, Frank Whittington, Beverley Ann Whittington, Kenny Whittington, Paul Whittington Jr., Paula Whittington, Sean Whittington, Woolford Whittington; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
