Obituary

Robert James Blackwell, was born on December 22, 1931 in Lottsburg, Virginia to James Conley and Novella Blackwell Conley. Robert was baptized at an early age, in Zion Baptist Church in Lottsburg, Virginia, and he attended Lottsburg Public Schools. Robert was raised by his Aunt Mary Cockrell, until he moved to Baltimore to be with his parents. Robert met and fell in love with Charlotte Holiday, a native of Tifton, Ga. They later were united in matrimony and have been devoted to each other for over 51 years. From their union one child was born, Kimberly. Robert loved his family and was a great provider. He took great pride in being a cook and the Maintenance Superintendent for The Walker/Cooper family until his retirement. He attended Simmons Memorial Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as an Usher for over 50 years until his health failed him. He leaves loving memories to his devoted wife Charlotte Blackwell, his Daughter Kimberly Blackwell-Terry of Atlanta, GA, and Stepson Gordon Webb of Baltimore, MD; Daughter in-law Frances Blackwell of Calvert County, MD; Sister Mable Coates of Baltimore, MD; Aunt Rosetta Veney and Uncle Raymond Conley. Sister in-law Alice Archie of Tifton, GA; Brother in laws George Holiday of Albany, GA, and Johnny King (Emily) of Tifton, GA; Authur Pettiford of Tifton,GA, and Grandchildren Ronnie Blackwell (Keisha), Brian Blackwell (Zachery), Wanda Webb Oakman (Anthony), and Lance Terry Jr.; Nieces, Belinda Lawson, Denise Sanders, Earline Carter, Gwen Coates and Patricia Coates; Nephews, Gary Baker, Michael Coates, and William Cook. Robert also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends to cherish his memory. Robert went to be with the Lord on August 14, 2020 welcomed by his angels who preceded him in death, his parents: James and Novella Conley; Aunt Mary Cockrell; Son Robert James Blackwell Jr; Sisters Doris Bell, and Mary Baker; Grandson Keith Robinson; Son in law Lance Terry, Several nieces ,nephews, aunts, uncles, sister in laws and Brother in laws who also in preceded him in death.
