Robert Henry Bolden, also known as "Big Rob" was born January 10, 1950 to the late Charles Henry Bolden and Mary Frances Bolden in Nelson County, Virginia. Robert completed his earthly journey on September 1, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

Robert received his education in Nelson County Public School System. He later received his CDL and began driving Tractor Trailers. Robert was an excellent mechanic and handyman until he became ill in 201l.

On April 11, 1985, Robert married the love of his life, Valerie Voiletta Gaither and from this union one child was born, Robert H. Bolden II .

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, grilling, "talking trash" to the Appleton Street family. Sundays were special days wherein he took time to talk with his brother Bernard.

He was a proud, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He shared a special bond with his grandchildren: Da'Shaun &: Ne-Ne (Arianna). Robert will be missed by many!

Robert leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 31 years: Valerie; two sons: Robert Henry Bolden, II and Vernon Johnson; four daughters: Victoria Selmon, Veronica Elery, Tonya Foster and Valerie Johnson/Means; two son/in/laws; Steven Young and Reginald Means; nine grandchildren: DaShaun, Kamari, Kassdy, Kinsley, Courtney, Steven, Keir, Alex and Arianna; four brothers:

Charles Bolden, James Bolden, William Rose and Andrew Bolden; three sisters: Margaret Woodson, Virginia Harper and Hazel Bolden; one Godson: Steven Patterson; Mother/in/law: Merle Gaither. Eleven sister/in/laws; two brother/in/laws; a favorite nephew: Eugene Gaither and a host nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
