IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert I.
Chambliss, Jr.
May 18, 1946 – May 7, 2017
Robert Ira Chambliss, Jr. was born on May 18, 1946 in Washington, DC. He is the son of Robert Ira Chambliss, Sr. and Georgia Chambliss. Two years after the death of his wife, Robert Sr. Married Bertha Chambliss. Mrs. Chambliss was a loving and devoted mother to her new son Robert, Jr.
Robert, affectionately known as Bobby was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He graduated from Forest Park Senior High School in June 1964. Bobby was an accomplished pianist and violinist, having studied at the Peabody Preparatory School of Music from the early age of 8 to 20 years old. He was the pianist and the choir director at the First Baptist Church of Pimlico for 3 years. Bobby worked for the Baltimore City Police Department for 4 years before beginning his 40 year career at the Social Security Administration. He also worked part-time evening jobs at Martins West and Super Fresh Food Store. He retired from these positions six years ago. Bobby enjoyed traveling in various parts of the United States as well as out of the country. His favorite being Saint Martins along with his group of friends and family. His health limited his ability to travel in recent years, but did not limit his desire to enjoy his friends and family. While confined to Future Care Courtland LCC Rehabilitation Center, he talked about looking forward to going on a cruise next summer with his friends. He is probably on that cruise now ... No rough waters, just smooth sailing!
He leaves to cherish his memory the most loving and caring sister, Sandy Matthews and adopted mother Margaret Solomon; his brother in law, Jai Matthews, several nieces, nephews and a host of very close friends who were like family to Bobby, whose memory will live forever in their hearts.
