Hill
September 24, 1955 – February 5, 2019
Robert Marcellous Hill who was also know as "Yinky" or "Rufus" was born in Baltimore, Maryland,
to the late Robert & Sylvia Hill on September 24, 1955. Robert departed this life on February 5,
2019, after a brief illness.
For a brief time, Robert and his brother Michael were raised by their grandfather, Marshall Taylor,
which was their mother's father, before returning to live with their mother in Baltimore, Maryland.
As a child, Robert and his brother accepted Jesus Christ as their savior while attending Morning
Star Baptist Church with their mother under the leadership of the late Samuel Ray Sr.
Robert received his education in the Baltimore City Public School system. He attended
Edmondson Westside High School. He later earned his GED in 1973, while working at Schmidt's
bakery. During this time Robert met and dated Karen Alston.
Robert and Karen were joined in holy matrimony in September of 1974. From this union they
had three children; Chauntil, Chanelle and Robert Jr.
Yinky began working at Bethlehem Steele and after a series of layoffs from Beth Steele. He
started working for United Cerebral Palsy as a bus driver. Robert loved to drive and take long
road trips. He always had to drive because that was his passion.
On June 8, 1980 at Sinai hospital, Robert became the proud father to his second son, Ro
J. Hill (Yinky).
In 1987, Robert met Rosemary V. Perry, and after a loving courtship, they were
on Saturday, May 30, 1992. These were the happiest years of his life filled with
and lasting memories.
During lay-offs from Bethlehem Steele Robert found his passion for driving
buses for Kennedy Krieger. After officially retiring from Beth Steele in 201
Robert enrolled in All-State Driving School where he received a Certificate
his CDCs in 2016.
Rufus loved going on casino trips and going to concerts especially to see
Whispers and Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly. Robert enjoyed
pinochle, going to the beach (Gun Powder State Park) with family. He
spending precious time with his children and grandchildren. Robert
his movies and music, which he loved to record. Robert was a part of
Smallwood street neighborhood association and played an active
the community development. Often times Rufus spent his days
outside his home shooting the breeze with three of his
neighbors who he caringly called his Golden Girls. They
called him their Golden Boy!
Robert M. Hill was preceded in death by his, Mother Sylvia Boisseau - McCardell, Father Robert Hill, two
brothers Michael W Hill and Anthony T. Hill and niece LaKesheia Hill-Brown.
His legacy will continue to live on in his affectionate wife Rosemary V. Hill, four children Chauntil M.
Hill-Graham (Vernon), Chanelle R. Hill, Robert M. Hill Jr. (Angela) and Robert J. Hill (Yinky), ten
grandchildren, Jessica Gooden, Dymon and Taylor Boston, RyKarra Hill, Robert Hill, Ahlexis Cowans,
Ariel Hill, Justin Griggs, Shania Hill and RyLee Hill. Two Great-grandchildren Domeneke and D'Kai Hill.
Stepmother Josephine Hill, five sisters Cheresa Trehern, Latonya Hill, Rosia Bundick (Martin), Mary Pitts
(Julius) and Deborah Smith (Michael), three brothers Gary Trehern, Demetreous Hill and Thomas Trehern
(Butch) and Tony Jones (Iantha), sister in laws Denise Perry, Brenda Hubbard one goddaughter Donique
Darby, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special cousin and Best friend
Roy "Bussie" Smith.
