ROGER LEE HOLLY, son of the late Lawrence and Rosie Holly, was born on February 24, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on July 17, 2013 after a short illness. He attended the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Frederick Douglass High School in 1959. During this time, he attended Macedonia Baptist Church, School and Choir. Later Roger joined the United States Army. After his tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge in July, 1965. While in the service, Roger met and married his first wife, Lola. From this union a daughter, Monica was born. He also became the stepfather to Lola's daughter, Lisa. This marriage ended in divorce. Than Roger met and married his second wife, Poly. From this union a son, Ron was born. He also became the step-father to Kevin, Patricia and Tina. Sadly Poly departed this life after an illness. Roger later met and married Jacqueline Brown; she had guardianship over her grandchildren. Roger became co-guardian over the three youngest grandchildren, Breyell, Katrell and Breyona Powell. Fondly they called him "Pop-Pop." Jacqueline predeceased Roger in death. Roger was an industrious person who always worked. As a child, he shined shoes and sold newspapers. As an adult, he worked at Coppers Steel Plant as well as drove a cab. He then became an employee of the transit company, driving a bus until he retired. Roger was a jovial-happy go lucky person who worried about very few things. Whenever he captured people in conversation, they always walked away with smiles and laughter. He had a passion for horse racing as well as listing to his favorite tunes at the Roots Club. Roger was known as "Hank" or "Hollywood" to his favorable friends. Roger never complained about illness. Questions about his health were always met with an "I am o.k." response. Roger leaves to cherish his memory: son, Ron Holly (Tonia); two brothers, Lawrence Holly (Shirley) and Eugene Holly; three sisters, Marlene Vaughn, Betty Gordon and Carolyn Higgs; one aunt, Rosie Williams; grandchildren, Brittney Perry and Tyannya Holly; and several step-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
